Telecoaching:
Q: What is telecoaching?
A: Telecoaching is a term that simply means coaching over the telephone.
It is the most popular method of connecting with a client used by coaches
world wide.
Q: What are the benefits of telecoaching?
A: The benefits are endless!
- No need to break away from what you are doing to make a trip through
traffic to an office. You can receive coaching anywhere you are.
- At the office? Find a quiet corner where you can have privacy;
sit in your car or go to a quiet park..
- At home? No need to find a sitter, get the kids involved in something
or put them down for a nap and find a quiet place to put your feet up
and enjoy your coaching session.
- On vacation or a business trip? No problem! Where ever you are all you
need to do is find a quiet place where you won't be distracted.
- You are not limited by where you live. If you hear about a coach in
another state or another country, as long as you speak the same language
there is nothing holding you back from having the coach you want.
- Without the distraction of being face to face, your coach can fully
connect with you, really hear your vocal tones and fluctuations and
listen intently for what you are really saying.
Q: What is a teleclass?
A: A teleclass is a virtual class. All classes are prepaid. Participants
call in to a bridge line at a predetermined time and join in on a class
from the privacy and comfort of their own home. All you need is a phone
and a comfortable, quiet place to sit. Teleclasses are discussion based
as opposed to a lecture based class, participants can feel free to be
as involved or as quiet as they wish.
All instructions will be e-mailed to you when you sign up for a Teleclass.
Q: What is a telegroup?
A: A telegroup is a virtual group. Groups are limited to 8 people
or less. All groups are prepaid. Group members call in to a bridge line
at a predetermined time and join their group weekly from the privacy and
comfort of their own home. All you need is a phone and a comfortable,
quiet place to sit. We request that you make attendance a priority in
order to maintain cohesiveness in the group. All instructions will be
e-mailed to you when you sign up for a telegroup.
Insurance:
Q: Can I use my insurance for Coaching?
A: No, in order to use your insurance there must be a diagnosis
of some sort. Coaching does not in any way diagnose a person. We look at
individuals as being whole people who are possibly stuck in a certain
behavior pattern, not as individuals who are sick and in need of diagnosis.
Payment/Refund:
Q: Why do coaches require money up front?
A: Everything your coach does or requires from you is for your
benefit. By requiring that you pay ahead your coach is helping you be
accountable for your coaching sessions. If you have previously paid for
something you will be more apt to use it. Coaches want their clients to
get the most value possible from their sessions, with the finances out
of the way at the beginning of each month it frees you, the client to
focus on YOU.
Q: What is the method of payment?
A: We request that you use your debit, Visa, or MasterCard. We
are set up to accept your payments through PayPal.
Q: If I pre-pay then decide coaching isn't what I need can I get my
money back?
A: Most definitely yes! Any coaching sessions you have paid for
but will not use we will cheerfully refund. However, we do ask that you
give us a 24 hour notice. If you do not give a 24 hour notice and do not
keep your coaching session appointment, that money will be forfeited.
Coaching versus Therapy
Q: What is the difference between coaching
and therapy?
A: Therapy focuses on the psychological scope of human behavior.
It often focuses on the past, processing the "why" of what and how you
feel. Therapy is often about fixing a broken person. Therapy is a good
choice for those who have been traumatized and need to process through
their feelings, thoughts, and behaviors.
Coaching looks at a person as being whole but perhaps stuck. Coaching
is about forward movement. Our style of coaching enables you to look into
the "how" and "what" rather than focusing on the "why"
of your situation. "How" you would like it to be and "what"
you would like to do about it. We have found that people often can get
stuck in trying to figure out WHY they are where they are.
Below you will see a summary of the distinctions between Therapy and Coaching.
Therapy:
- Uses a Medical model
- Deals with mental illness
- Diagnoses and treat
- Views client as in need of fixing
- Brings unconscious into conscious
- Therapist viewed as the expert
- Focus is on past
- Explores root problems
- Reconstructs personality
- Focuses on problem
- Doctor/patient relationship
- Advice giving
- Focus is on what is wrong
Coaching:
- Uses a Personal growth model
- Deals with relatively healthy persons
- Supports, guides, educates and empowers
- Views client as whole
- Works with the conscious mind
- Client viewed as the expert
- Focus is on present and future
- Explores what is present
- Respects, strengthens, balances personality
- Focuses on potential
- Collaborative relationship
- Powerful questions and guiding
- Focus is on what is right or can be developed
Q: Is all coaching the same?
A: No, each coach has their own style and orientation. Coaches
use their background (previous job expertise), their coaching education,
and their personal experiences to enhance their coaching. coaches often
have niches, for instance they may focus on business, personal development,
goal setting, or a variety of other areas. So each coach is unique because
they themselves are unique.
Coaching and Time
Q: How long do people retain a coach?
A: A minimum of 3 months is generally required in order to allow
for more permanent changes in your life. There is no limit, however, on
the amount of time you can use a coach. Some people stop coaching when
they have achieved a certain goal. Others continue coaching for years
because they appreciate the value it continually adds to their life. And
there are others who may start and stop as the need arises in their life.
It is a personal preference so there is no right or wrong length of time
to retain a coach.
Q: What is the length of each coaching session?
A: We coach between 30 and 45 minutes. We like the flexibility
that the extra 15 minutes provides. Some times we find that things are
moving right along within the coaching session and our client is finished
in 30 minutes, to hold them longer with small talk would be counter productive
for them. Yet there are other times when we need every second of those
45 minutes to be with our clients through their situation. Setting it
up this way allows us to flow with you in your process.
Q: What if I need a little help in between sessions?
A: We make ourselves available to you via e-mail for questions,
wins, frustrations that arise between sessions. We do our best to respond
within 24 hours.
Confidentiality
Q: Are our sessions confidential?
A: Everything said in our coaching sessions will be kept in strict
confidence with the exclusion of any illegal activities you inform us
of your involved in that our reporting would be required by law. We have
been known to consult with each other regarding our clients, anything
we share remains between us and goes no further. If this is a problem
for you please be sure to let us know.
Couples Coaching
Q: How does Couples Coaching work?
A: There are several different ways we can work with couples. Coaching
is generally done over the phone, when working with a couple there will
be times when you both are on the phone with your coach at the same time
and there will be times when you each have an individual session with
your coach. If you choose to hire both Scott and Sandy (Couple to Couple)
there will be times when all four of us will be together on the phone.
For those couples in the Phoenix area who prefer face-to-face coaching,
we provide that as well. We want to be as flexible as possible in order
to meet your needs.
Honoring Your Spirituality
Q: It is obvious that you are Christians and I am
not. Are you going to try and convert me?
A: An individual's Spirituality is a very personal aspect of their life.
We highly respect each person's spiritual orientation and beliefs. We
are not here to make judgments or to try and sway you in your beliefs
in any way. We are here to allow God's love and acceptance to shine through
us while we work with you within your framework to help you become all
you were created to be.
We have worked with people who hold to the following spiritual frameworks:
- Protestant
- Catholic
- Jewish
- Atheist
We would enjoy the opportunity to speak with
you and offer you the opportunity to see if working with us would be right
for you.
Medication
Q: Is there an alternative to medication?
A: We live in a day and age where stress, anxiety, and depression
seem to dominate our lives. We are bombarded with TV commercials offering
new medications to eliminate these debilitating nuisances from our lives.
Many people buy into this and the pharmaceuticals are becoming richer
and richer as a result.
There are many medications on the market. Some people truly do need these
medications and should follow their doctor's instructions, but is medication
always the answer? Are the root of our problems really stress, anxiety,
and depression or are there other deeper factors from which these symptoms
result? Perhaps the problems could stem from our thoughts, beliefs, and
even our lifestyles. Being out of balance physically can result in these
symptoms as well. Coaching could help you as you look at the balance of
your life.
We are advocates of finding a natural way to healing wherever it is possible.
In our research, we have found NeuroScience, a natural yet scientific
way to balance brain chemicals. We, oursevles, have used this company
and their products and found them extremely helpful. You can find them
at www.neuroscienceinc.com.
For a natural alternative to women's hormonal health, we recommend the
Women's International Pharmacy. You can find them at www.womensinternationalinc.com.
DISCLAIMER: There are serious problems which do require medication. It
is not a sign of weakness. By taking these meds you are taking care of
yourself. We commend you for that. Never stop taking any medication without
first consulting your physician!
